lAURIE SHERMAN
Laurie is a life-long theater goer and investor. She is a lawyer with significant experience in voter protection and campaign organizing and international affairs. For the 2020, 2022, 2024 and now 2026 general elections, she has worked on the PA Democratic Voter Protection team as a logistical coordinator for the 34 western PA counties. She has acted as an election observer in Bulgaria, Serbia, Russia, Albania and Uzbekistan through the National Democratic Institute and the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe.
Laurie has a J.D. from Georgetown University and is a member of the bars of New York and the District of Columbia. She has practiced law at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, worked as a sole practitioner and served in the General Counsel’s Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Legal Advisor’s Office at the State Department and the International Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission. She carried out dozens of short term assignments funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development and the World Bank. From 2015 to 2017, she was the Anti-Corruption Advisor at the Mission to Serbia of the OSCE.
She previously volunteered her time as a Special Advisor to the Coalition for Integrity, a non-profit organization promoting ethics and transparency in government and currently packs and delivers food for the Capital Area Food Bank and Food and Friends. She is the co-Chair of the Political Committee of the J Street DC Metro Chapter and in that capacity fundraises for J Street endorsed candidates for President, Senate and House. Laurie is on the Board of Secure Families Initiative, an organization of diverse military families that takes on fights that matter to that community: diplomacy-first foreign policy, demilitarized domestic law enforcement, and a strong democracy accessible to all.
