Meet Reginald l. douglas
artistic director

Reginald L. Douglas is a DC-based director, producer, and new play advocate dedicated to creating theater that connects audiences of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Throughout his career and in this new position, he will create and produce theater that serves as a catalyst to conversation, social change, and community building. He comes to Mosaic after serving as the Associate Artistic Director at Studio Theatre in Washington, DC, and previously as Artistic Producer at City Theatre in Pittsburgh, Penn.

Douglas’ appointment ushers in Mosaic’s next chapter that builds on its strong history of telling stories that speak to the vital, pressing issues of our time and foster space for meaningful dialogue and cross-cultural connections. He joins the team as Mosaic welcomes back audiences in person for the first time after successfully overcoming the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Meet Serge SEIDEN
MANAGING director

Serge Seiden helped found Mosaic Theater in 2015 and has been the Managing Director since 2018. 

From 1990 to 2015, Seiden held many positions at Studio Theatre including Stage Manager, Literary Manager, and Producing Director; he  was a key player in Studio’s 1996 and 2004 expansions—developments crucial to the re-emergence of 14th Street as a cultural hub. In 1994 Seiden joined the faculty of the Studio Acting Conservatory, where he trained as an actor and director. 

For Mosaic, Serge has directed Birds of North America;  Eureka Day; Ulysses on Bottles;  Hooded, or Being Black for Dummies, and When January Feels Like Summer.  In 2013, Seiden received the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Director/Resident Musical for Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris... at MetroStage. At Studio, Serge directed over 25 productions including Bad Jews and The Apple Family Cycle.
