Shartoya R. Jn. Baptiste (Scenic Designer, she/her) was born and raised in Saint Lucia and began her theatre journey through dance. Movement and her Caribbean heritage are foundational in her scenic design process. Shartoya currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Towson University and Coppin State University, where she advocates for the funding of arts education and the protection of artists of color. Select design credits include: Sleepova at Olney Theatre Center; Is God Is at Constellation Theatre Company; P.Nokio: A Hip-Hop Musical at Imagination Stage; Syncopated Avenue at Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe; and By The Way, Meet Vera Stark, The Book Club Play, and The Fall MFA Dance Thesis Concert at the University of Maryland.
