Vincent E. Thomas

Movement Director

 

Vincent E. Thomas (Movement Director) is a dancer, choreographer and teacher. He received his MFA in Dance from Florida State University and a BME in Music from the University of South Carolina. He has danced with Dance Repertory Theatre, Randy James Dance Works, EDGEWORKS Dance Theater, and Liz Lerman’s Dance Exchange. His choreography has been presented at various national and international venues. He received rave reviews for his performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Vincent was the Movement Coach/Choreographer for: Brothers Size by Tarell Alvin McCraney at Everyman Theatre, Unexplored Interior by Jay Sander at Mosaic Theater, and Los Otros by Ellen Fitzhugh at Everyman Theatre. Vincent was awarded the 2017 Pola Nirenska Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance, the 2019 University System of Maryland Regents Faculty Award for Excellence in Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity, 2020 MDEA Living Legacy Award, 2021 Baker Artist Award, a 2022 Baker Award Finalist, and a 2023 Black History Month Honoree for Richland District Two (SC). He is the Founder/Artistic Director of VTDance, Associate Choreographer for INTELLIGENCE Opera with Jawole Zollar, and Professor of Dance at Towson University. vtdance.org
